Yom HaShoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day was established as an Israeli national holiday in 1953 and will be observed with a special service at Beth Emunah on Shabbat, April 14. On this holiday in Israel, a morning siren can be heard, all activity stops and people stand in honor of those who died. Around the world memorials are conducted, candles lit and names read aloud to honor the 6 million murdered during the Holocaust.
